What could cause the o/d light to flash/blink?

the ecm is now on many a bcm body control that also monitors the transmission also along with engine, something acting up in trans control,check fluid while running and warmed up, also can be scanned for a trans. code

Had the same thing on a Explorer....come on and start blinking and was not long after tranny started slipping.. hope this is not your case.but to answer the question it is a control devise that also monitors the transmission

my F150 does it as well. just have it scanned and that will find the problem

When you guys say have it scanned....is that the device they plug in under your dash that gives check engine codes? Because my Mazda was doing this too but it doesn't give any transmission codes when scanned. Is there another scanner for a transmission or is it the same?
