Odd noise from engine.

Asked by Truman Sep 29, 2012 at 08:25 PM about the 2002 Mazda MPV LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sounds like brakes grabbing slightly but continues on when fully stopped.  I checked belts but they all seem tight.  Slight ticking in engine.  Problem is intermittent.

Does it only happen when you run your AC? It could be your AC compressor clutch or your fan clutch.

I always have AC on so haven't tried it with AC off. It does sound like something like that. It started doing it late spring so AC has been on all summer. It has become much more frequent. I will try to see if it does it with AC off. Thanks for your reply. I will keep you informed. Truman
