Delay at start up

Sometimes when I go to start up, I turn the key, everything lights up on the dash properly, but there is a 1 maybe 2 second delay before it starts up, and idea what could be going on?

The battery might be getting weak, how old is it and what is the measured voltage?

Just recently aquired it, so really don't know how old the battery is, It is a motorcraft, surely it's not the original battery.
