1995 Jeep Cherokee Engine Problems

Asked by jwgolfer2010 Apr 05, 2016 at 09:15 PM about the 1995 Jeep Cherokee SE 4-Door RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1995 jeep Cherokee 4.0l is having problems.
When I crank it up, it don't matter the weather
conditions, sometimes it drives perfect all the way
to town and back, which is 15 mins one way. Then
other times I can crank it up and it start stalling
going down the road and I can pump the gas and
the engine will pick back up. Others times it will go
dead and I have to pull over and pump the gas and
it will crank right up after idling it for a min. It
may drive 10 mins or 1 mins or 1 hours. No certain
pattern. Then sometimes when it goes dead and I
have to pull over it want crank back up at all. Then
sometimes when it goes dead it want crank then and
have to wait 5 mins or so and then it cranks back up
fine after having to idle it for a second. Other times
it want crank at all and I have to leave it there for
a few hours. Some post say it could be the crank
position sensor and others say it could be a loose
connection on the computer. Just looking for a few
opinion.

If if feels like its vibrating when you get up to a certain speed it's your fuel injectors. If it doesn't and it's doing it when you first go to start it it's your fuel pump. The injectors in them aren't good anyways. I just bought some off eBay with 4 pin holes instead of one. Made a world of difference on how mine ran.

COULD ALSO BE THE CLOCK SPRING...i HAD SIMILAR ISSUE...IT AFFECTED TPS. iT WAS SHORTING OUT. SOME DAYS IT WOULD BE FINE..OTHER IT STALLED AFTER STARTING OR DRIVING. WOULD STALL MAKING SHARP TURNS AS WELL. MOST SAID IT WAS THE COMPUTER. ONCE I REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE AGAIN
