Question type: Maintenance & Repair

this is a 3.8 v6 with 130,000 miles  and standard trans  .there is a terrible vibration in the motor that can be felt through the whole car , the higher you rev the worse it gets --  i was told that it started after the exhuast pipe broke just before the catalytic converter . there was no check engine lite but that was the bulb burnt out. after replacing the bulb the lite still didn't come on so i unplugged about 5 sensor's finally the lite came on when i ran the codes only the tps code appeared. the exhaust has been repaired the motor mounts have been replaced  (that cured that simular problem once before ) thanks if you can give me a clue

Hi Bobby! You went to my first answer, motor mounts. Now I have to question whether you are sure it's the engine and not the tranny although it sounds like you have revved it out of gear and gotten the same vibration. This sounds too serious to guess about from afar. You need to get this engine to a pro to have it checked in case it's not a major problem ... yet ... Good luck!

I have the a very similiar sounding problem and know it is not the transmission as clutch is depressed and trans disengauged vibration does not change, at idle is perceptable as rpms rise vibration gets really intense shakes the entire care and growning noise inside car gets intense. I am hoping it is a harmonic balancer, but if it is not it unfortunately sounds like main crank shaft bearing has gone bad, may be time for a new engine, sucks have roughly the same mileage on my engine.

My car will not start and the belt is not linking up with the other pulleys I changed the balancer about a month a go

my motor rocks way to much when i give it gas, is this a sign of a broke motor mount?

Two words: HARMONIC BALANCER I had the same problem on my mustang 99 v6 160,000 miles then for about half a year. Once I replaced it, the car ran perfectly. Good luck fellas!
