What could it be?????

Asked by Brianne Aaron Jun 12, 2015 at 09:42 AM about the 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It all started a couple weeks ago. I was
taking kids to school in my 2003 jeep liberty
and it over heated and water was pouring
out. My husband changed to water pump
and it was fine. 5 days later got In it to leave
and it wouldn't start. Husband changed to
crankshaft sensor and all was fine. The next
week went shopping came out of store with
a basket full of groceries and it wouldn't
start ugh! He then replaced camshaft
sensor and now it has a ticking sound under
the hood. Help!

Sounds like you may have a bad bearing in the pulley tensioner. Remove belt and start vehicle for a few seconds and see if it still runs rough. If it still runs rough you have another problem but hopefully it runs smoothly. Let me know if it still runs rough.

I would check plugs and boots first. Open the hood at night in the dark and see if you notice any sparking around the plug wires its also possible you could have a rocker arm that either fell off or is loose as a result of overheating your engine. That is under your valve cover and not visible.
