A/C only blows through the Defrost '99 Eddie Bauer

Question type: General

It's summer time and all I can get is Cold Air /tempted by an open door cooling it down from the heater core.  And It's hot here in Texas.

I can't believe I had to drive a 1000 miles to have a squirrel or some critter craw underneath my hood and attempt to build a nest in three days. Whatever it was, cut my spark plug wires off and stuck them in the next right along with the vacuum lines. I replaced the wires and spark plugs with 140K miles and thought I had fixed the vacuum lines. Hence the vehicle runs fine but the ac only comes out of the defrost vent and when it isn't on, I can feel the hot air coming from the heart core.

Does anyone have a vacuum line diagram for the lefts side of a 5.0 this vehicle of mine has. I have no idea as to if I've corrected it, or that little rascal has me completely fooled and I only think I've repaired the vacuum lines.

It's a vacuum line all right. Sorry, no diagrams but the heater system under the hood is simple. Manifold vacuum line to a "T" with a check valve. One end of the "T" goes through the dash to the heater controls and the other to a vacuum reservoir.

Thank you Tracy for the help. This check valve must be the thing I'm missing. I've repaired the two lines (I could locate) that were cut only to be engaging the heater valve all the time. I'd hope since there isn't a diagram in the chiltons manual, to find one here online. Suggestions of the local parts house.
