Accidentally changed from R to P while stopped in 4L...

Asked by Erin2320 Feb 20, 2014 at 02:40 PM about the 2002 Isuzu Trooper 4 Dr S 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I immediately switched back, but the transmission made a horrible grinding noise for
about 2 seconds. I put it in neutral and switched out of 4L, and the car seemed to work
completely fine afterwards (I only tried 4WD auto after that). I guess what I'm wondering
is if is my transmission okay? Should I get it checked out to make sure it isn't messed
up? I don't know much about cars so any thoughts you all have would be helpful.

Your transmission is fine no harm done otherwise you'd feel it. Actually that's a trick some people use to remove any debris from the valve body when the tranny acts up. You are fine
