2000 Ford focus will not shift out of park. Also no brake lights

Check your brake fuse. It's probably blown. If it's blown, check the wiring harness in the trunk. You may have some broken wires. Once the fuse is replaced, you should be able to get it out of park. Post back with your results.

When ever your break light fuse is blown you can't shift the car out of park. Have a mechanic replace the fuse for you.

Mine was fuse F42, 15A in passenger fusebox, which caused the gear selector to be stuck in park. Having not been able to test the solenoid, I tested the brake light switch (OK) but found the brake lights not working. Replacing the fuse got it all working again! [Ford Focus LX 1.6i Auto Estate petrol 2002]

2005 ford focus wagon. fuse 42 ok but still have no brake lights no heater fan no power windows working gear shift stuck in park no wipers working
