.Crank pully stops turning

Asked by Chase Apr 27, 2013 at 11:36 AM about the 2003 Hyundai Tiburon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

03 Tiburon crank pully looks like it stops turning from time to time and belts squeel and power stearing get hard to turn

the crank pulley has a rather aggressive 'tooth' what stops it from turning, yes it is conceivable that this key was left out of the assembly somehow (blame a bug biting the assembler) but assembled and worked well until recent? could this be really what has happened here?

If the serpentine belt occasionally stops turning then I'd check that crank pully, they will seperate at the rubber ring you will see. Either that or your tensioner has had enough tension.
