2000 ford escort will not start

my 2000 ford escort 2.0l split port started ran put into reverse car died and now cannot get to restart. changed fuel filter, plugs, wires, plenty of spark, checked timing belt not broke, can hear fuel pump. please help.

Run a compression test. The timing belt may have "jumped". If all cylinders have a low or no compression readings that's what has happened. HTH. -Jim
