I have a 2004 Honda Element that lost it's oil filter while I was driving. After reattaching the filter and replacing the oil, it will not start - any thoughts on why?

If your vehicle was driven far enough to have oil filter fall off, the engine is probably seized and toast..... Figure as soon as it was coming loose, the engine was pumping all it's oil out and and to continue until it fell off.... not good. Need to talk to whoever did the last oil change job for starters.

good answer, but there is another possibility- it must have thrown oil all over the engine compartment- maybe the oil got into some electrical components-

Thank you both - it does try to fire - I was wondering if it lost compression could the timing be off?
