back wheel struts leaking oil

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have bought the 2005 Honda Odyssey in Nov. 2004. Yesterday I had a friend rotate the tires(1st time since I own the car) and he notices that the back wheels' struts are leaking oil. He thinks the leaking has been there for a while. I was surprised that every time I had the service done at the dealer, they never told me about it. Is this common in this model of the car? Is there a recall on this, since I consider I have the car not very long, it is kinda odd to have this type of the problem so early.

no recall, it is a wear item, time to change them. as for them going so soon, that depends on the mileage and the road conditions as well as how much is hauled in the van and also the way the van is driven

Right, struts can fail at any time, especially in places like PA where we have very poor potholed roads. Saw it a lot at the Dodge dealership.
