disconnecting the Odometer on 2015 Chevy Captive

Asked by msfritz18 Jan 01, 2016 at 10:34 AM about the 2015 Chevrolet Captiva Sport 1LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have added a tow package to our new Captive but on our first tow, even
though we removed the fuse we were told take out, our car is still racking up
miles...how can we stop this when we tow her behind our RV?

Put it on a trailer. If the drive wheels are off the road then the mileage will not rack up. Disconnecting the battery might do it though.

We don't want it on a trailer, that's why we bought a towable/dingy type car. Thank you though

The car is getting wear and tear when you tow it even if the engine is not running. A trailer or tow dolly will reduce the wear.

Ask yourself this. Are you worried about wear and tear on the car or do you just want to deceive a future buyer?

No deceit- just wanted to tow a car on all 4 wheels-I have talked to our insurance company & will keep track of the towed miles. All is now good & we will tow my new car as a dingy.
