I used to have a 87 an I have a 94 jeep cherokee now. Both jeeps used the same ignition switch. The ignition switch changed in 95 if I remember correctly.

Btw our model cherokee has melt down problems involving ignition switch which usually melted both connectors. If that has happened to you or the last owner it might not be wired correctly. Check fuses and wiring under the hood around the the starter relay on the right side(passendger side) of engine compartment.

I have a 87 jeep yj I just replaced my ingition starter switch n is it suppose to be firm ir move wen I tigh so it wount move the key will not turn if can help text pls 409 739 8448
