My 2009 SLT Yukon 5.3 Flex is maintained impeccably. It recently had new iridium plugs after 127,000 miles. Vehicle began to ride rough and had a misfire in cylinder 7 (driver side near firewall). They needed to be replaced because the gaps were at 6/32 not the required 2/32. I purchased a innova scanner, works great a must have. After replacing the plugs the vehicle runs great. Five days after the fix my vehicle just died while driving. Called my SAE mechanic friend and he told me to try to replicate the problem. Just a few days later it did it again. Now I noticed the voltage meter fell to about 10:00 on the gage if it were a clock. The gage on the Yukon goes from 9 at the far left to 12 straight up and 19 to the far left. So 10:00 was close to the 9 and about 1/3 of the distance to the 12. The vehicle has done this a few times intermittently on the voltage gauge. I have had my alternator and battery checked about one month prior to the spark plug fix. There were no problems found. After being tested again there were no problems until put under a load (air conditioning on). Then the alternator tested bad (regulator). They replaced under my “lifetime warranty”. Always get this when you buy an alternator or starter it’s worth the few extra $. Rule of thumb for the full proof Yukon/Tahoe, the gauges should all run near 12:00 or straight up. If not, go test the above mentioned problems. The gas gauge of course will be at your discretion and duty. Hope this helps.

I failed th mention on the 2009 GMC Flex 5.3 I run a AGM battery I purchased at Walmart with a 5 year full replacement warranty vehicle specific. My alternator was purchased at O’Reillys auto parts vehicle specific/lifetime warranty. My starter was also replaced at around 110,00 miles. I purchased my starter at O’Reillys as well with a lifetime warranty. Just for those in question my mechanic friend only shops at O’Reillys. He was the head mechanic at a local domestic dealership for 30+ years, I trust his judgement. Vehicle runs great now. Smokes the BMW’s and the Raptor’s. LS motors cannot be beat. You know
