What is the advance timing for a 1988 GMC Sierra SLE? It is a V-8 with the 5.7 L.

Just bought the truck and am trying to tune it up.  Just need to know what the advance timing is supposed to be.

Since when was an 88 350 computer controlled timing. There's no vaccum advance or plug in of any kind on my distributor but on that year with no 1 on TDC the 0 on the timing mark indicator is the right position. But be careful. When replacing the distributor the spiral gear will through you off a couple teeth if you don't set it back a few teeth to start with
