The 3.9 v6 does not get any better mileage than the 5.2 v8. I can get 17.5mpg if I keep my foot out of it.

My dodge ram van 3.9 liter engine gets 8 MPG acted a tune up. The Engine is Junk. Cracked heads from the factory. The stuff Don't hold up comaped to a Toyota. I put Rebuilt heads on it it drove me around at great expence for 15 months, now it got head problems again at 133,000 miles. I will never buy american gas guzzeling junk Again. The dodges when they had carborators on them got got better milage. Don't believe the lies. Theses 3.9 Engines suck more than gas. They Shit, Too.

The Dodge 3.9 2000 Millinium Magnum motor is Junk and Sucks Shit and alot of Gasoline. Can't beat the performance, if your O2 sensor is replaced. I replaced All The Sensors still 8 MPG. Everything was Right with it for 15 months after i replaced the two heads with rebuilt, and Replaced Just About everything. 8 MPG is Pretty damn Sorry, when things are Right with it. Yes i did use the Right tool to Time The Ignition. New Dealer wires on it . Double platinum plugs.

When The 3.9 liter engine was Running Good, and overdrive, i installed a switch to have control of the overdrive, i took a trip from Leguna Negal to Monterey california, it cost me $120 in Gas to go one way.

The one cylinder dead Now, Still Runs good. About The same gas milage Now, moving around Town. The Thing eats alot of gas when i start it. $3 of fuel Rich injectors, right out of the back, every Time i start it. It even sounds like it got good compression now, when i start the junk It sure has a shitty fuel injection system on it. To think Dodge would come up with something better? Are they the same blocks they used for their carborator engines, back in the day. They couldn't Shorten the stroke alittle, to provide better torque, for the fuel innection higher compression model engines?

I changed the Throttle body and the ECU, so the damn thing would idle Right. The heads contained bent, warped, and burnt valves, when i pulled the first set of heads off of it, 15 months ago. It's a wonder it ran then. Now, Again it's Time for the yearly $45 california Commercial Vehicle Smog. And, $200 Registration Fee. Just to have a place to stay? OddEoes Junk!

The Thing don't burn oil more then Normal. But, it does Love Gasoline. My Money Too. This one's turned out to be a real Money Pit, empty Well, To the Obese....

I bought the reconditioned head from Autozone. With a 1 year warrantee. The 2 Year was $100 more a head, Don't Buy the one year guaranteed cylinder heads from Autozone. Go somewhere else and but New Modified for better cooling. Look into it Good. You don't want to Get Ripped.

The 2000 Doge van Handles Very well with a GOOD Front end aligment. Not Big O Tires in san Clemente. Aeroporto Steet front end shop is where the towns go. Mechanics can be as Bad As Doctors out Here. Misdiagnosis to The Hill.

Boot Hill and The Boneyard. These Dog Engines Make Good Boat Anchors. The Bottom Ends Are Bullet Proof. I had a friend who had a dodge van years ago. It Knocked so loud you could hear it Knockin Three blocks away. It took about a year to get that way. I don't remember how much he drove it. About one day, Him telling me, it was Time to Take the van to the Bone Yard, it was getten relly gettin bad, he had to hold the throttle to keep it running.. We drove in the Bone Yard, it clonked out. And, did Not Start Again. He was So Proud of himself for Timing The Bone Yard Run Just Perfect. I never Heard the end of it. I was Rather Puzzeled myself? How did he do that?

The V 8s i imagine idle better, i heard one with high miles and high and wondering idle, the other Day. Probably a circuit burned out in the ECU. The 6 Cylinder have alot of vibration during even a smooth idle.
