Interestingly, the Cabriolet was still a MK1 body style in 1987...it's entirely possible that a Mk1 Rabbit or Jetta bumper will work...check your local salvage yard.

What about a 1996 Cabrio? Will the fenders from the Golf, Jetta or rabbit fit it and if not, anybody have a clue where to find one?

96 Cabrio is an A3 platform, I believe...you'll have to source parts from Mark3 Jetta, Golfs, etc...where are you located, perhaps we can find some good parts sources?
