have a 1984 Porsche 928s. It's for sale and everyone that has come to look at it is trying to check a number stamped somewhere by the battery. Do you know what this number is or what it will tell you

They did say no it is not a vin number. But they never really answered what it was.
Why don't you ask them what it is until you get a satisfactory answer? Only numbers I am aware of under the hood are VIN and engine numbers
