i just bought a 1989 toyota sr5 extended cab it has a manual trany. when i put the four wheel drive in high or low the front tires wont pull. is the a butoon on the dash some where to lock it in?

No. No button on the dash. You have manual hubs. You have to get out of the truck and turn the hubs with your fingers. You should see where it says, FREE or LOCK. You must turn them to the LOCK position. Then put it in 4WD using the shifter.
