Is it a power seat? If so, most likely the motor is burned out. After 27 years of moving back and forth either the motor has quit, a fuse has burned out, or the wiring under the seat may have become worn, or disconnected. I would check the the fuse and the wiring first! Best of luck!

A Cressida! wow, I used to laugh at those when they came out- not any more- the drivetrain in that car has become very desirable- back then, I mostly laughed at the name- "Troilus and Cressida" is a Shakespeare play about a vain Roman and his faithless wife- who else knows this stuff except me?! btw- your seat will have to be repaired by someone who knows what they are doing-
