98 only had the 318 and 360 Drain coolant- disconnect positive battery cable! unbolt the ac compressor put to the side. Take off upper radiator and fan shroud. remove centrifical fan clutch and fan blade. remove the alternator and alternator/ac bracket. Remove intake to pump hose -remove heater tube from right side of pump remove lower radiator hose. remove pump.

Clean the surfaces well for the new gasket, it has to be very clean and you might want to change out the gasket for the tming chain cover as well while you are in there and even the oil seal that is in the timing chain cover. These gaskets have about the same life time as the water pump so good to safe time and money and kill two fly´s in one hit. Also I would change the serpentine belt and the tentioner, check all the hoses and get a new thermostat as well. Remember to burp the system when you have filled it up with new coolant.
