Headlight replacement on driver side

Asked by streaky Dec 02, 2006 at 01:29 PM about the 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is there an easy way to replace the headlamp bulb on the driver side without removing the battery? Also the passenger side looks next to impossible to get to without some major doing.
Thank you

Not sure about the specifics of the 2002 model, but here are basic instructions: http://www.ehow.com/how_2630_replace-car-headlight.html

no, there is no easy way to do it. You must remove a screw from the front top of the headlight assembly. The screw is in the narrrow gap between the fender and the headlight assembly, good luck getting to it. You need a special star headed screw driver and the cheap, crappy, super long screw will almost certainly strip out. I do recomend that, once you have the screws out, you replace them with philips head screws from your local hardware store, like God intended to be there in the first place. Oh, you will also need to unsnap the rubber piece from the top. It jsut popps into place where the hood comes down. Good luck with the screws, you are going to need it (and alot of patience).

Yes there is a small unit right behind the battery that is heid onto a small metal bracket by a small piece of rubber if you have small arms you can slip it off of the bracket and reach around behind the battery and change the light that is how i change it on my 2002 DAKOTA
