"grinding" or "rubbing" sound from driverside wheel

I have a 2003 durango r/t 5.9 magnum. It just started to get a rubbing or grinding sound when making a right hand turn its not a constant sound it goes and stops goes and stops sound has lesser interval as speed goes up any idea on what it could be i asked a friend and he said the boot may have split and it would cause cv joint to loose greese causing the sound he said to change boot and repack cv joint?
