For my 2012 Nissan Murano LE with 105k miles, the check engine light came on. It had been doing little jerks for a while. NBD, or so I thought. Diagnosis: need new (CVT) transmission. Iowa mechanic price $3800 for new CVT tran. Found out the Murano CVT regularly dies around 104k miles, so lycky me, I got an extra thousand miles. Grrr. Hoping to get another 100k out of the new transmission, but doubt it. Before this, I was convinced my next car would ve another Murano, but I won't buy another CVT transmission if I can help it.

My 2014 Nissan Murano was bought new. I'm 66 years old and don't drive fast etc... Before 50000 miles I needed brakes and new tires. $1800. At 67000 miles I needed a new transmission. $5000. Now at 77000 miles I need transfer case. Nissan said it's another 2500. I bought a lemon plain and simple. All they've offered me to take mine back as a trade it in for a new one, which I can do at any dealer. I'll never buy another vehicle with a CVT transmission.

Pretty sure mine just went. 79K miles, 2012. Not driven hard. Waiting on the tow truck now. Anyone have luck with having the warranty extended? Mine expired last month.

2011 Nissan Murano just had transmission fail. 126k miles. Most cars go into the 200 range & nissans used to be great! So disappointed. No assistance not even a call back from Nissan yet. I owe 8700. Being quoted 5k for a new one w a 12k or 12mo warranty. Laughable and awful. What a rip off.

2012 murano 169,000 miles as long as i stay off the interstate and dont go over 60 mph, i can drive my car. Transmission has been going out since 121,000 miles and Nissan doesnt have any extension to the warranty. The dealer seriously told me to just stay off the interstate and not go on long trips in my car. roughly 6000 to get a new one and only a year warranty for it. Nissan is not worth it anymore. this was my graduation gift to myself, will not be buying another Nissan!

Mine is a 2004 126,000 miles, way out of warranty so will follow CPucks advise and drive it slow. Works great as long as I leave it in S (sport or second) gear. $3500 plus install for rebuilt. Kid says he has a friend that may be able to fix it for less. For those with newer CVT vehicles (2012+ ) check out: http://www.lemonlawcase.com/problem-vehicles search Nissan CVT
