something other than a thermostat issue?

Asked by Craig Oct 22, 2014 at 06:29 PM about the 2004 Dodge Intrepid SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 2 cyl. upon cold start will only produce cold air for approx. 10 miles or so. The defrost in front and back windows appears to be performing , but no heat flows until gauge "slowly" climbs up to middle on dash dial. From my limited mechanical research knowledge this symptom doesn't seem to be a thermostat problem but I look for any professional advise/feedback available on a students budget.  Appreciate the help.
