Is it possible to replace a 2005 H2 nav/dvd/cd player with a 2008 version

I have a 05' H2 with a nav/dvd/cd player and I was wanting to upgrade to a 08' unit. is this possible as just a plug and play. does the 08' unit require a dvd or is it done thru onstar?

I have not herd of it being done. But to do it you would need to cut the dash most likely because the new navi is bigger
