will the starter motor relay click if its bad

my car wont start starter just clicks but so does the relay but wont turn over

what if it will crank if you tap on the starter. I have an 06 starter has been replaced relay is fine, sometimes it runs just fine, other times it will not crank, just click click.. if you hit the starter it will crank..... frustrated!
