Looking at buying a 2007 Impreza with 58K miles. When the steering wheel is turned far right or far left and the accelerator pressed, the car feels as if it is catching. Is this normal?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Could this simply be the normal difference in the speed of rotation of the two front wheels fighting the AWD? or could something be wrong with ther vehicle?

It's never a good idea to turn the wheel all the way to the stops and hold it there while you take off. Just back off a little on the steering wheel and I have a feeling you won't have that problem

It wasn't to the stops. It first happened as I left the tight driveway of the seller. I tried it again in a congested supermarket parking lot, going up and down the rows. When I made the tight turns, it felt like it was catching.

I would have it check out by the mechanic before buying. In particular, the front axles. Have them test drive it.

Torque Bind in the center differential. Run away.
