Our 2004 2.7 Concorde sounds like the timing chain is loud on cold starts only.

Asked by John_ Sep 18, 2015 at 02:53 PM about the 2004 Chrysler Concorde LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have only heard the noise on cold starts. After it is started you can shut the engine off and start it again with no noise. No dash lights or codes show. It does not sound like lifters to me. Any thoughts?

If only heard on cold start, may be weak oil pump, oil not getting pumped up to head on cold start, but once it is warm no sound, may not hurt to upgrade your oil weight.
