why does the automatic air conditioning only work ocassionally

my air conditioning never comes on when i want and ive pushed all buttons but it only
funktions sometimes and may work for a few secs and then stop and not work afterwards
and my windshield fogs up and cant unfreeze the windshield at winter cuz air conditioning
wont work

You have to go in for air conditioning service...as this one has a filter/dryer that removes water from the freon stream....also a proportioning valve...these things need to get looked at and the "sight glass" should not have bubbles in it...get some a/c service...have the charge looked at undercharge causes icing....do you hear the compressor engage when you select it?~

thanks for answering so quickly,yes i hear it engage (a small clicking sound) when i put it on but it wont start blowing.

Hi Jesse ,what solved it ? Mine goes on and blows for 2 min and then turns of . Works agin 2 min after I restart the engine and then turns of again ....there is no difference if ac is of or on....just shuts of 2 min after start no blender door funny sound .....compressor on !! Thanks

Hi Petr it turned out to Be as simple as a broken wire that needed to Be replaced. You probably need an electrician to find it though, if your car has the same problem as mine. Sorry for the late answer.
