My Rear A/C is working, but Front does not work.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When it started acting up initially, it blew cold air only when the fan was on high but
now its not working at all.  When the fan is NOT on high (1,2,or 3), the A/C button LED
is lit, but no air comes out.  When you switch the fan to high (4), the LED goes out, the
fan comes on but no cold air.  The weird thing is when you first switch from low fan to
high fan (4) there is a short burst of cooled air that comes out.  Any ideas?  Resistor or
heat A/C temperature control unit? Thanks in advance.

Dont know if this will help everyone, but my wifes 2010 sedona would only blow ac in back, no air coming from front. I turned the ac to 4(high), located the front blower under the glove box, and gave it a tap and it came on immediately! I guess it was just seized up from heat expansion or blockage of blades, but anyways, it blows great now. I checked to see if it worked on all 4 speeds, and it did. (Otherwise, if it only ran on high, it seems it would be the resistor). Hope this free fix helps!

Wow this worked on my 2012 Chevy Traverse! My front A/C wasnt blowing air but would randomly turn back on. I changed both actuators, fuses, etc...nothing working. Tapped under the glove box and it turned on lol

You have a Carbonized Connector going into the blower motor! If you look at this cables move it around and it will come on! Clea al the connections and pins. It should work fine!

Same problem - no fan up front but fine in the back. Hubs and I checked fuses, read the owner's manual, etc. all to no avail. Then I put the fuses we bought in the glove compartment, slammed it shut, and voila! Front a/c came on and works fine.

I did have a problem with my Kia Sedona it took a while to figure out what was wronge with it after having a few kicks.. it was the blower motor resistor and needed a new dial to adjust the heat/ac. Hope this helped someone. It was an easy fix.

Something in my wife's Kia Sedona I just tapped under the dash and now working again. Thanks

Yes tapping will work to an extent what it was for my 2012 Kia Sedona is that the fan is exposed under the glove box check connections should only be 2 or three if that doesnt work then tap it could just be a bad connection.

So the tapping works on my 2012 but it continues to go out so would it be the resistor switch or the blower motor

2012 Kia Sedona front ac unit won’t work: So the fix for this is to go underneath the glovebox and locate the ac unit. You then unscrew the 3 screws (make sure you have a hand to support it while you unscrew so it doesn’t break anything. Once you unscrew it, slowly remove the motor. Then on the bottom of the motor, there are 4 tabs in the center and 2 on the small extended piece. Get a knife and pop the tabs out. Once you do that, remove the black piece that you just disconnected (this will reveal the actual motor). The main problem is that the actual fan part is rubbing on the black part causing it not to spin. So when you have it upside down, make sure it is flat but still in the air (this is for future testing). (When you are looking at the motor) there are 1 whitish plastic pieces on both sides (one on each side) with springs. Now turn your car on and put the fan on any power level just to ensure that it’ll work when you test it. Make sure the unit is flat, upside down and your fingers are on a part of the unit away from the fan (you might get nicked a couple times but you shouldn’t get cut.) Then locate the the whitish pieces and place you fingers on the end (away from the center). Then push lightly towards the center (push in). This will turn the motor on and the fan will start to spin. You have to keep constant pressure on the white plastic spring piece in order for it to work. So find something that you can wedge in there so constant pressure is accomplished. make sure that the fan is able to work when you put the black piece on. If it doesn’t work, try again with getting constant pressure to the plastic pieces. Then put the black piece back on the motor and make sure you snap the tabs back. then carefully put the ac unit back in the hole and screw the screw back in. Again, make sure you are holding the unit up while you are screwing or it will be very difficult. (If you experience any vibration or shaking, make sure the fan isn’t rubbing against the black plastic. To fix the shaking, just pull the edge of the fan up, you will have to try to get a couple fingers around the fan so you can evenly lift it without fighting it for a couple minutes. ) Once you screwed it back in, your ac unit is fixed. -Braydon R.

I have a 2012 kia sedona and the front ac started going out a couple months ago. Did the banging on glovebox and it fixed the problem. Now its winter time and it started doing the same thing with the heat. Heat in back but not in front. Tried the banging underneath the glove box again...no luck. The front will randomly start working and then cut off again. Then start and then stop again. Any idea ehat the problem is?

also nothing in front blows. Including defrost...when it cuts on it is weak and last maybe a minute. I can hear the fan under glove box spinning loudly when it is working... like unusually loud and when it isn't working not a sound.

This sounds like a very common problem with Kia Sedona. Does Kia know? are they doing anything about it?

Your motor blower gets 12 volts directly from the battery, which is the highest speed on your AC/heat. The resistors job is to divert voltage so you can have low & medium speed. If you have clogged cabin filter, or your resistor gets worn out, it starts to cause problems. Problems like no speed, or only high speed fan setting. Solution is to change the resistors. Motor blower resistor gets very hot thus causing it to go back. Make sure you change cabin filter every other year. When its clogged, it puts lot of stress on motor blower & resistor.

My Kia Sedona 2018 AC is working in the front but not in the rear. I took it to Pep-Boys to have it evaluated and they said only the dealer ,Kia, is able to tap into the computer system. is this true?
