Cadillac CTS with high miles, woth it?

Asked by need_a_car_bad01 Jun 08, 2009 at 11:46 PM about the 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6L RWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking for a new car.  I found a Cadillac CTS with 147,000 miles, 2005 for $9000.  I just got divorced and don't have a lot of money to spend on a vehicle, this one was just beautiful! But I'm pretty leary about the miles.  Any thoughts on this vehicle?

I'd say it's a good deal. Insurance would be relatively high but that's what comes with names like cadillac bmw mercedes and any of the more luxurious brands. From what i know the cts has been a very reliable car. Make sure the car drives well, get it inspected, and find out if the miles were highway.

I own a 2003 CTS, its got 198K on the clock, its in decent shape and still runs great. Aside from regular things like oil changes, brakes, tires, etc, i had to replace the A/C compressor at 100K (im in Texas, so its always running on the coldest settings) Thats it. The car is good as long as you are willing to do the regular stuff. I will say that i dont drive like miss daisy either, so i know its built to take on the road like a warrior

personally i won't buy any car unless it comes with some form of warranty. on the other hand its a cadillac, and cadillacs are great cars. but 147k miles for $9k i dont believe its worth it. you best bet would be to get something under warranty especially if you dont have alot of money like you said you dont. obviously the car wont b as nice, but the money you will save on future repair will mostlikely be worth it

Are you still looking for a CTS. I have a 2005 CTS 3.6 liter still under warranty, I will be willing to part with this for 8200.00 I am looking to downgrade and just purchase something for cash. The car has only been maintained by Cadillac and they have all the maintenance records. I Have been unemployed for 2 yrs now and could really use a downgraded vehicle. I hate to part with it. If you r interestes please email me at mstbcamd@aol.com Beautiful car.

I have a 2007 CTS and believe me it's awesome. I was rather leery at first when they sold it as a rented car, and it had already 28k. But they said not to worry, the Cadillac is built right and will last. It's silver and was special made without any logos. It is a sport edition. It has 87,463 k and it's silver with black interior. We're selling it for $12,00 ...

A Cadillac that has 147000 miles and the person that's selling the car wants 9000...that's not a good deal first because the car has 147000 miles and its an American car you only have 50000 miles left if well taking care of then 9000 dollars you can take that and buy a Honda for 5000 thousand and save four thousand and gain more because a Honda is an overseas car that will give you 375000 miles or more!!! Stay smart never settle for the first search for the best and always ask God to lead and guide you to your major blessing!!! God Bless

There seems to be a awful lot of Cadillacs for sale to be such an awesome car. Let the buyer be ware. Cadillac maintenance is expensive if needed. It is a GM vehicle. They do not have the reputation of a Japanese vehicle for reliability. It comes down to feel , comfort and looks vs future savings. How much room you got to wiggle with, your call.

Its a good car. Similar suspension features to a ferarri, mrc. When a camaro spins out....this tracks. The 2005 cts is like a 2015 camaro v6 with a stretch for rear leg room. I have some experience working on my own vehicles. I can do most things that would cost 1500 or less. Or everything short of heads and transmission. I bought a cts with all its silly problems from headlights you have to pull the bumper to replace to the effing blend door actuator i had to modify (destroy) a cheapy 1/4” and screw bit tool. Seats tear easy, seat leathers hard to find. 13 year old car....I think its wonderful and very cool front end setup for “family car”. Compaired to and is250, like a tank, but way more comfy and secure feeling. Compaired to a mazda 6, feels bigger, faster, quieter. But if i were to change all the fluids i all three cars and only allow oil changes every 3000 my mazda would win by a 50 k miles. However the miles done in the caddy would be way more comfy! Just maintain the caddy, drive slow unless you really need to move out. They are more involved with more screws and bezelz to work on but worth it. Magnetic ride control for first gen are becoming affordable to replace yourself. I am not rich, basically i look at owning my caddy as do it myself and do it right and the high parts cost equal cheap parts plus half the labor on a basic car. Ok, im done. Hope you finished your beer or dubie.

All I can say is I don't kno much bout 07 cts but I have an 08 cts sport with over 250,000 miles driven hard, mostly highway miles but the biggest fix was hub assembly, tires for the 18inch wide tracks, power steering pump & alternator. 1 helluva a car & Tht lil maintenance was done @240,000miles. Its was worth every Damn penny. Hands down will buy another between 08 & 2013. I'm looking rht now as we speak 4 those specific years. Also want a 94 to 96 fleetwood brougham doner car. Idk if running or not as long as Tht car is in good condition. Txt 9312785751

Trying to get advice in whether I should buy this caddie. Like many said above, I don't have a lot of $ to spend but this one is 2007 CTS sports edition at 137k going for 3K. Seems like good price and thinking that this will last me at least 200k in mileage? Any takers?

It's a bit high prices for the miles . I went to my local Cadillac dealer and he got me a 2006 DTS with 82k original miles for $8200. I have owned it a few years and it's at 94k miles Now since the price of pre own card have gone up to adjust to the minimum wage increase, if I were to sell my DTS I can sell for almost the same price as when I bought it for For the car you looked at I would not have paided anymore than $6000 and that's for a Arizona car. Now if your in the north where you have snow and most cars are eroded from salt causing even more rust....I definitely would not go past the $5k.

Will a cadi run past 300,000 miles?? Got a cadi 2015 xts 281,000 on it. I just needed a car for four months until it’s safe to return to Cali where my Toyota Camry is waiting for me. All i literally need to knkw is, will the thing go on when i turn the key EVERY TIME. Idc if performance goes down, the ride becomes bumpy because the engine starts chugging, none of that, idgaf. Will it turn on and run for 4 months at 281,000 miles.

Looking to buy 2011 Cadillac CTS premium package with 140,000 miles. For $8000. Is this a good price? How many miles should it last. The car looks well maintained and beautiful.
