Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Vehicle purchased brand new in Dec 2010.
Only 58,000 miles on car and the transmission went out. Dealer wants $3500 for repair.  I feel GM should fix for free!!!  Only 2 months out of 5yr / 100,000 mile Powertrain warranty. Sucks

I did contact GM.com. apparently the did contact the dealership and authorized $2500 towards the $3500 transmission repair. I certainly appreciate the reduction, but u really feel the total cost should be covers. 58,000 miles certainly is not many miles. The expectation is that the transmission should last into the 70 or 80k range with no problems. Also the dealer is only offering a 1 year warranty on parts and labor. Maybe I am expecting to much.

I have same car and GM seems to not want repeat customers, at present car sets and transmission has failed twice...common for these cars yet private shops have come up with upgrades to transmission and solved issues....GM how do you stay in business, I believe in buy in America.......but your pushing it......2011 Impala..
