Heater fan works only on fast and off on all other settings

I replaced the heater fan 2 months ago because it was making hasty noises and this
morning my heater fan only works when turned to the maximum speed.

Is my new fan bad or is something else going on?

Usually the cause of speeds missing during blower motor operation is a blower motor speed control or blower motor resistor. The blower motor resistor is usually mounted near the blower motor.
