EPC - Check Engine light ON, doesn't idle and shuts off, problem shifting gears.

Asked by Renato2606 Jan 06, 2016 at 12:59 PM about the 2009 Volkswagen CC 2.0T Luxury FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This is an intermittent problem.  The car (automatic transm.) does not idle properly and shuts off.  Car runs with minimum power when this happens. Shifts gear only when you play with the throttle paddle or change manually. Engine idles up and down. When you start the car a couple of times, the lights might go off and car drives perfect, like nothing happened. Please advice.

i have the same issue. out of the blue my ECP light come on the car starts to shut down... so what works me was I pop the hood to see if anything was out of place and when i was checking the connections to the throttle body the engine seam to start running just fine, got back in the car and the ECP light off like it never happen. I have done this 3 times in past year. Some say its the harness..replacement $1200 or better or is it in the connector?

I have the exact same problem word for word. I even changed my spark plugs and coil packs and it still does it. so all you did was press down on some of the connections on your throttle body and everything went away and didn't cone back???

I'm having the same issue. So far I've replaced spark plugs, coils, done a tune up, switched to premium gas and started using a can of cfoam per week. The problem continues.....

I've changed my plugs and packs. next I'll be changing the pcv valve, throttle body, check the injectors to see if they're gummed up or just not working at all. if all that doesn't help I'm just going to have to take it to the vw dealership and let of their technicians diagnose the issue and fix it...
