Pale orange glow of bottom two rows of dashboard lights while driving on sunny days.  Why?

Bought a 2009 Prius in June. Left headlights on and needed a jump cable start and resetting of the computer. Since
then, I noticed, the bottom two rows of dashboard lights glow pale orange - not bright - while I am driving on sunny
days.  The dealer guesses that the sun through the rear window is activating this panel glow.  Is this plausible?  Has
anyone else experienced this?  Does someone have a plausible reason for this occurrence?
