TPMS reprogramming

For the coming winter I will install a set of winter tire mounted on steel wheels that I had from my 2005 Accord. I want to install new TPMS sensor on the wheels so I will still be able to diseable the traction control system. I am not sure if the sensors will fit the wheels so I had in mind to use a small trailer wheel, put the sensors in it, pressurize and leave it in the trunk. For the 2009 TSX, the TPMS system is auto-relearn. Need to drive the car below 15 m/h for 40 sec. I was wondering if the sensors need to be installed on the wheels for this to work.
