How do I reset the window controls to allow operations from the drivers seat? The lock out button seems to operate OK. But unable to control other windows.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We are unable to control window operations from the drivers seat. Windows will open  &

This happened to me after disconnecting battery, panicked a bit. Raised and lowered each window individually a few times, and it fixed itself. Not sure what is the combination that did the trick.

Turn the ignition on first. Like Jose said, from each door lower the window then raise it. Repeat this twice and you will be all set

Go to the LR door and lower the window all the way and then raise it all the way. Do it twice and then check the automatic function from the switch in the LR door. When the auto function is initialized the LR window should now work from the drivers master switch. Repeat for 3 other windows.

Fully lower and raise the windows until the indicators become solid (not flashing), you will regain the control from driver window control panel.

Same here - replaced dead battery - all windows stopped working but the driver's one. Turn ignition ON - no need to turn the engine on. One time full down and full up was enough for each window (from its own door control) but the driver's one. Had to do the driver's window down/up several times to get the button green LED to stop blinking and regain full auto function.

I followed a combination of instructions from this site. I opened and closed each window individually, leaving the driver's window open while doing the others. I then closed and opened the driver's window again and voila, the central control worked. Thank you all....as I was dreading another trip to the dealership!!!

I immediately was able to open/close the LR and RR windows from the FL (master) control after completing the instructions above. However, I still have been unable to get the FR (passenger) window to open/close from the master control after several attempts at going through the entire process :( 2006 IS350

UPDATE: I got instructions from here and it worked like a charm. None of my button/switch lights ever turned on or blinked though: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/291026-electrical- help-windows-won-t-roll-up-after-battery-disconnect-2.html 1. Turn on ignition and open driver side front window halfway 2. close driver side front window and hold switch for 1 second 3. have a look at the other door window switches (they should be flashing) 4. repeat same procedure with other 3 window switches

Had the same problem, here's what worked for me. Held each individual button in the up position for 20 seconds and when released window will stay in the up position. I then let down and back up and problem solved. All working properly now.

I think all of these things work. I tried the one where the driver's door is lowered and raised, then tried each of the other doors, and they all started performing correctly. This was after the Toyota dealership replaced the battery and did not check the windows. Bob Osborne, Longview, TX

2004 RX330 here. After my wife drained the battery, we lost master control from the drivers seat, we also lost the auto function on all windows. None of the ideas above worked for me. Tried the up and down 3 times, as well as the driver, passenger, passenger rear, driver rear, sunroof order thing. What fixed it for me was in the manual, roll each window down half way, then roll it up holding the up button for a second after hit hits the top. After doing this, the auto feature on all windows was fixed, and the master control started working as well.

The above instructions work. I have a 2004 RX330, followed the instructions, got the rear left and right windows control back, but had to try the passenger side multiple times. At one point after holding the driver window switch up for 20 seconds, the driver window opened about an inch then stopped, but I waited about a min and tried it again and it worked. For the passenger side, here's what I did: 1. Ignition key on (don't have to start the engine) 2. Lower driver window all the way down twice 3. on the second time raise the window closed and hold the switch up for 20 seconds 4. operate the passenger window from the passenger door switch full up and down twice then try passenger switch from the driver side console 5. You should be able to now operate the passenger side window from the driver side console. 6. If it doesn't work, try the sequence again. It may take a few times for the car's computer to set the memory

Same trouble with my 2008 Lexus RX350. The solution "fixed" the back windows on the first try. The passenger window was troublesome. I tried many different combinations. Driver window up, down, midway, then cycle passenger window from the the door control up, down, midway. Cycle back windows. After about twenty tries, the passenger window finally worked from the drivers door controls. I'm not sure which combination actually did the fix. Just keep trying.

I just got a 300 H last week, and had this problem. I tried this, and after three times, the front passenger and left rear passenger controls then worked; the right rear didn't. I repeated the cycle 4 times on the right rear, and now they all work. Thanks, folks !!

My battery died from leaving it at the airport for 17 days. Windows wouldn't work from driver side after that. Tried the above mentioned fix of lowering each window and then closing it. It worked! Thank you. My mechanic said I'd be needing a new switch but he was wrong!

Tried all the above hints to no avail on my RX 400. Then I came across the post that said the driver's window must be fully open before you can re-set the other 3 windows. It was easy to re-set the other 3 windows once the driver's window was open. There is a little green light in each door switch which should be blinking if a re-set is needed. (Mine only blinked when the drivers window was fully open) It stops blinking once the re-set is successfully completed

Another chance to "fix" window switches on 2008 RX350 after a battery disconnect. With the ignition on, I twice lowered and raised the RR, LR, then passenger window. All the driver window switches now work.

I have a problem with my IS250 C, the window on the driver's seat doesn't rise or drop after locking or un-locking. Can anyone help

LS 460L - battery was dead, windows needed to be initialized. Repairs didn't work at first until I lowered the driver window and kept it down while raising and lowering each of the other windows. Windows were lowered 5-10 times each before it initialized. They were held in the up position for 3 seconds before being lowered again. The driver window was raised once all windows were registered. Success!

The first set of instructions did no work on my 2014 ES350. I tried holding each window switch for 20 seconds with window up and that worked for me. Thanks to all.

After changing the battery for my 2007 RX350 , only the driver window works. I try all suggestions here but no other window goes up or down!!! Lexus should not design their vehicles that way.

My 2004 Lexus RX330 had the same problem. My mechanic said it was a $600+ part and who knows what the labor would be. I just did what was suggested here and it worked! Thank you for saving me $$$$$.

I feel obliged to confirm that the magic worked on my RX350 too. I had to the change my alternator and my windows won't roll down from the driver's control after that. I followed the instructions making sure all windows were enabled from the driver's disable/enable button. Thank you. RX350 pearland, TX

I tried multiple different combinations that have suggested and none of them worked and none of the LED flashed either. I stumbled onto what did fix my windows. I had to go to each window and hold the button in the raise position for about 5 sec. Athen if the window worked in the auto function the window would work from the drives control too. If the window doesn't work in the auto function then it will not work from the drivers control.

Yes it was the new battery that caused a few windows not to roll down. With car ignition on I individually rolled the windows down and it fixed the master control for windows. Thanks for the tips.

I had to up and down my LR window maybe about 7-8 times before it works normal again from the central driver control panel...! Stubborn!!

10

This worked perfectly for my RX330. I was stressed this it was another issue to deal with but after individually raising and lowering each window three times the automatic function worked and the driver master control worked. Thank you for the help.

This happened to me before, about 3 years ago. I changed the battery of my RX350, 2009. After changing, I the passenger side power window cannot be operated from driver's side button. All I did was raise and lower the from passenger side about 5 times or so. It was fixed. Lately, I changed my battery again. Again, my passenger side power window cannot be operated from driver's side. I remember the "trick" I did 3 years ago. This time it did not work. I thought I just got lucky the first time. Then I read the blog on this site. I went back to my RX350 and did it multiple time, I think over 20 times. Lo and behold, it worked again. This trick really works but we do not know how many times you need to raise and lower the window.

My 2008 Lexus RX400h passenger windows stopped working from the driver window control panel after replacing the battery. However, they did work individually. I tried as an above post mentioned to put the windows up and down 2 times but it didn't work. I tried individually again but 3 times each and it worked.

2 people found this helpful.

My 2007 RX350 did the same thing after the battery went dead. Raised and lowered the passenger windows about 4 times and all windows worked from the drivers door again.

Thanks all for this solution shared. I cannot state clearly the roll up and down sequence, but it worked. But I think it was the rear door windows first then the front independently... Thanks once more,

10

From the window of the door that the controls won't operate using driver door button ,easy fix i literally just did this . All you have to do is lift the switch like u r rolling window up and hold for like 3 - secs and the driver control panel will stop blinking and works instantly after that
