With the cruise control set why does the car downshift as I go over each overpass on a freeway ?

Vehicle is a 4 cyl. With the cruise control set at any speed it will downshift out of overdrive going over EACH overpass.....is this normal for this car ? so much for good fuel economy....

Most 4-cylinder cars equipped with automatic transmission don't have much power on the highway.  This is why the car downshifts alot.  It's very likely that there is nothing wrong with the car.

Thats correct. This car is UNDERpowered especially the  4 cylinder one. The car's computer *ecu or ecs* sees that the car has not enough power feeding it to the wheels so it downshifts automatically gives you more power.

same with all cars
