When i turn on my ac or put the heat on i here a loud ticking noise but when the ac off and the heat the noise stops what can this be

I have the same issue with my 08 Malibu. It only seems to happen when I have the setting on 1 though..the motor is right under your dash. If i put pressure on it it stops, when i let it go it resumes. I havent figured out a fix yet but im working on it.
