2008 EGR Valve

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a replacement EGR valve after getting error code.  After a week of running with no issue, all of a
sudden it sounded like an exhaust leak and the smell of engine exhaust came from the engine
compartment.  Since the installation of the EGR valve was simple, 4 bolts with the proper gaskets, i'm
wondering if this EGR valve is bad.

Possibly your issues with the new EGR are a coincidence. Sometimes an EGR code will be something else triggering the EGR sensor to send an error code. Your header gasket probably rusted and needs to be replaced.
