I had it happen also. Had to bring it back to dealer; luckily still under warranty and have the assembly replaced.

This has happened to us multiple times and it is soooo aggravating. The key gets stuck in the ignition and it just will not start. We call the repair man who comes out and moves the steering wheel some how and it starts but having a repair man come to start it when ever this happens is NOT a solution.

Our HHR was recalled for this problem. We took it in and it wasd repaired for free. Check with your GM dealer.

I bought my 2010 HHR I n 2010 with 5000 miles on it. This was a recall problem back in 2011 or 2012. The dealer will fix this.

When mine did that the battery was dead. Now it won’t start or do anything. Not sure if it’s the starter or alternator. It struggled this morning out though the day and now that I have it home it won’t start at all. No clicking sound nothing
