Check your fluid level and condition. You may need a tranny shop to check it out. Could be a sticky solenoid or a piston seal that leaks until it gets enough pressure.

put it in neutral, then turn on your 4 wheel drive. then put it in reverse. if it still does not want to go into reverse then your linkage to tranny slipped out. easy fix if you know what your doing.

Hey guys I got a 2002 Dodge ram SLT and I drove it all day today. Reverse no problems, no jerking. Then hours later I get home to back up in the yard and nothing. No reverse. Can I still drive my truck to and from work without reverse, would this cause an. Issuue

I have a 95 dodge ram that I am having problems with no reverse. The truck is not worth enough to drop a lot of money on a new or rebuilt transmission. Im not a mechanic, but like to tinker. The truck had issues with forward gears but reversed was working, I didnt have the money to fix so I let it sit for over 3 yrs. I decided to tinker with it, I replaced the control solenoid, filter and fluid. now all forward gears work great but when I put it into reverse, It will back up slowly on its own, but if I give it gas it just revs up like its in nuetral and it vibrates like its trying to back up but wont go. Fluid level is good, nothing was found in the pan (very little shavings). Could it be air in the lines? bands need to be adjusted? or what? 1 Answer

Replaced tps, cleaned, IAC sensor. OD was working then it wuit, then it worked again, now it won't at all.
