Starting problems

Asked by avgarcia0927 Apr 15, 2016 at 08:40 PM about the 2005 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I fill my tank and then go to turn on the car and it
won't turn on unless I push the gas pedal and it
won't do it ever again until I put in gas again.
What's wrong with it?

It could be the quality of the gas you put in the tank. Audi's prefer high grade fuel. If you put cheap and/ or low grade fuel, you may cause engine or fuel injection issues. Another option is there could be moisture in your fuel tank. Cheap gas can have higher levels of moisture. Auto part stores have fuel tank, fuel line, and fuel injector cleaners. That would be the least expensive avenue to try first. Then start putting only top quality and high grade fuel in your car. If it doesn't work, take it to a mechanic.

Sounds to me like the vapor purge valve is clogged. Usually when this happens its one of two things. The purge valve which is behind the fender is clogged blocked or stuck from old age or debree. The second cause is often a break in the emissions line. Mine did this not as bad before but i found the pipe behind the drivers side rear wheel for the emissions system had rotted out for nearly 7-10 feet of the pipe and it was split right in two. Sure sign is the smell of gas when the car is running near that wheel.

My Audi A4 has starting issues. It takes a while to start after pumping the accelerator. It does make some weird burning smell when on. Please help?

weird burning smells could indicate things like to much oil sepage into your exaust system. check the smoke if its kinda blueish this may be your issue. the car likely needs the intake system cleaned out my 2013 2.0l T would suck back a Liter of oil every 1500km into my turbo and it went all threw my intake system. had an inch of gunk on my entire intake system after it hit 80,000km

check your crank case sytem as oil sepage is usually caused by a baffle issue should be a valve on top of the engine cover that is like a circle it will rupture some times or jsut simply ware out. audi does not tell you this and are horrible at diagnosing thier own vehicles.
