My wipers work for a little bit and then they stop working, this is dangerous and it happens under heavy raining conditions. How can I repair them myself?

Possible the wiper switch/stalk, wiring problem or the wiper motor itself. Hard to say without doing some electrical testing. Since it is dangerous and a safety issue, I would have this fixed ASAP.
