have to move to shifit into first shifts to 2 ok, you have to shove it hard to right and up for 3rd and ok to 4th, 5th is difficult to find and almost impossible to get it into reverse always goes into 4th

check your clutch, sounds like maybe the master and/or slave cylinders may be the issue.

I put mine in first an got ride clutch to take off feels like I'm taken off in second it's a standard five speed

Lube your shift cables, my 86 was the same way, works better after I lubed and cleaned it cables.
