timing chain isn't a maintenance item, so there is not replacement recommendation like for a timing belt. I assume we're talking about a 2.0L gas engine. The timing chain tensioners can wear over time and cause abnormal tapping noise on cold start until oil pressure builds up. I'd say if the tensioners ever need replaced to replace the timing chain and guides at the same time. The guides are plastic and could wear over time. Any of these issues would be well after the 100000 mile mark. Hope this helps.
