SAAB 9-3 saloon 55 plate - air con not working at all

Got into my car this morning, windows steaming up. Realised that air con/heating system/fan not working at all. Also, When I press the button with a car on it and an arrow giving the impression the air circulates in the car, a noise from the passenger side sound like a machine gun going off!! Any ideas ?
